Cake Wrecks
Melinda over there in England sent me a couple of emails recently.
#1: she told me about her mishaps in the latest Lazy Bakers assignment, and sort of warned me off of it. It was the Pecan Toasting Bread Thingy, and I just may heed her advice. I'm not making any promises--I might just try out of sheer stubbornness.
#2: she alerted me to a freaking good website that is now going into my blogroll: Cake Wrecks.
Cake Wrecks posts about these appalling cakes baked by "professionals." There are ridiculous grammar mistakes, terrible color choices, poor excuses for piping, and at least one amazingly sunken wedding cake. And these are from professionals! People paid for these!
I love Cake Wrecks. Thanks Melinda!!

I am glad you liked the cake wreck site. I think it is brilliant! I love the,'It's a Gril' cake!
ReplyDeleteMarie swears her pecan bread was really good...so this means I goofed
up somewhere. This can only mean a redux for me! (Surely, I didn't make a mistake? Oh, no!)
[wipes away tears of mirth] That was hilarious! Here's my favorite one:

Oh, dear god! I am now recovering from a ten minute laughing fit from the Inspiration Vs Perspiration entry. The second cake is just so....unexpected. I laughed until I cried and my sides hurt!
ReplyDeleteWe all need a good laugh sometime! thanks for this, I really thought the Tartan one was hilarious, fancy opening the box(?) and finding this is what you are lumbered with!!! Jeannette
ReplyDeleteomygosh, people! this was a popular post!
ReplyDeleteMelinda, thank you for making me so popular! and i will still try the bread; BBC's looks so nice and edible....
raiuchka, yes, that was one of my favorites too! glad you liked it :)
aldaigle, yeah you know, if a professional can make this cake for a wedding, i should start doing wedding cakes too! mine would come out just as pretty!
jeanette, if i was the bride i think i would cry. and then, i'd send someone to all the nearest bakeries and clean them out of cakes! i wouldn't have dared serve that, but i am glad we got to see it!
